Pre-entrance Programme

Overview

The KSPT Pre-entrance programme is designed to facilitate those individuals who do not meet the pre-requisites for the City & Guilds Level 3 International Vocational Qualification (IVQ) Advanced Diploma in Oil and Gas programmes. The target audience therefore includes the following:

  • Persons with less than 5 CSEC CXC/GCE Ordinary level subjects;
  • Persons with no subjects;
  • Persons missing both Mathematics and Science.

Course Content

The Programme will be delivered as follows: 

  • Math is a TWELVE (12) WEEK programme 
  • Science is a TWELVE (12) WEEK programme

Each of the following Fundamentals Short Courses is ONE DAY in duration:

WELLHEAD FUNDAMENTALS (WHF)

The candidate will acquire the basic principles of the Wellhead and Christmas Tree: an understanding of the basic operations, parts, uses and relevance to oil and gas operations.

INSTRUMENTATION FUNDAMENTALS (INSTF)
The candidate will acquire the basic principles of the overall network of components and devices used to monitor, control and action the flow of processes. These components assure the efficient running of major plant equipment as well as support for sub-processes to acquire the finished product of any industry (energy, petrochemical, chemical domestic).

FUNDAMENTALS OF PRODUCTION OPERATIONS (FOPO)
The candidate will acquire the understanding of the process of Production operations which combines and transforms various resources used in the production operations system of the organization into value added product/services in a controlled manner as per the policies of the organization.

MECHANICAL THEORY FUNDAMENTALS (MTF)
The candidate will acquire the understanding of major mechanical equipment used in the oil and gas industry. The operations and maintenance of these major equipment will be analysed.

ELECTRICAL THEORY FUNDAMENTALS (ETF)
The candidate will acquire an understanding and appreciation for the inception, concept, development and uses of electricity and electronic systems and their applications for industry.


All Nationals of Trinidad and Tobago and non-nationals are eligible to be accepted to this programme.

There are no prerequisites for this programme.
