Level 4 Offshore Competency Assurance Qualification – Offshore Production Operator Training (OPOT)

Overview

Production Operator - Production operations involve the management of hydrocarbons (oil and gas) from the reservoir to the initial customer. This in effect means producing, processing and delivering the correct quantity and quality of product and ensuring that all the production systems are operating in the most efficient way. The total production system can be divided into three distinct subsystems: subsurface (wells), surface handling (process facilities), and storage and sales metering (terminal). Production operators are employed under supervision in various aspects of this work.

This is an exciting and intensive introduction to offshore platform operations for technicians seeking entry into the industry. The program blends practical sessions and hands on training with theory using the knowledge and experience of seasoned and competent professionals as instructors and assessors to produce an individual who is able to:

  • Understand the design and function of equipment used in offshore oil and gas production facilities
  • Understand the need for and apply the principles of Process Safety Management in an offshore oil and gas environment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working safely and understand the importance of health, safety, security and the environment
  • Analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot and present solutions to problems with equipment used in an offshore oil and gas production environment
  • Communicate problems, analyse situations and present solutions in a dynamic, team-based environment
